National Coffee Day

Several people plainly need a cup of coffee to get them going as they wake up in the morning.

There is such a thing called International Coffee Day. It is an unofficial holiday which honors coffee as one of the most favorite drinks in the world. The first official date was launched in Milan back in October 1st, year 2015 which was agreed by the International Coffee Organization.

As for me, every day is a good day for celebrating my favorite hot beverage.

Coffee has long been referred to have negative health effects because of its high caffeine content, which means it can definitely interfere with sleep and cause restlessness. Coffee is also known to raise both blood pressure and cholesterol which speeds up heart rate.

Nevertheless, there was a study back in year 2005 conducted by the American Chemical Society which claims that coffee is actually the No.1 source that helps neutralize free radicals. Moreover, according to Harvard Medical School, regular coffee consumption can provide other benefits such as protection against Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, liver cancer and liver cirrhosis. It can also be of use if one is suffering from a headache because the caffeine in coffee causes blood vessels to constrict, which can provide some pain relief.

With that being said, we should always remember the old saying that goes something like, “all things are OK in moderation.” So, just drink coffee moderately.
